William Chad Colson, DMD, FAGD
Serving Myrtle Beach, Conway, and North Myrtle Beach areas of South Carolina
Born in the small town of Union, Dr. Chad Colson grew up in Greenville, SC. After graduating from Mauldin High School, Chad attended Clemson University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1996. During his senior year, he was awarded a scholarship to attend dental school through the Health Professions Scholarship Program with the United States Navy. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000, as well as multiple awards noting his excellence in oral surgery, implantology, and clinical proficiency in other aspects of dentistry.
After graduation, Dr. Colson completed residency training in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program through the US Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in San Diego, CA. During his tour of active duty, he met his wife, Dr. Jill Wonder Colson. He completed his active duty stationed on board the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and returned from a six-month deployment to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2004. Dr. Colson was awarded numerous medals of commendation during his active duty service. Both he and his wife received honorable discharges from the US Navy in the summer of 2004.
Dr Colson, along with his wife, joined the Carolina Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry in 2004 and became a partner in 2007.
Dr. Colson is an active member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the Grand Strand Dental Society of which he is a past president. As well as being involved in organized dentistry, Dr. Colson participates in numerous continuing education courses each year to stay abreast of the rapidly changing world of dentistry. Dr. Colson is also a contributor on Real Self.
Rehabilitation of a poor dentition can change a life forever. Dr. Colson is passionate about providing patients with the most current treatment options available, so their smiles can exceed their expectations. Dr. Colson enjoys the challenges and rewards of cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery, with an emphasis on the surgical placement and restoration of dental implants as well as rendering dental treatment with oral conscious sedation. Consistent with his standards, he has been awarded Fellowship into the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor bestowed upon only 7 percent of dentists in this country.
In addition to rendering exceptional dentistry, Dr. Colson is thrilled to provide lip and perioral augmentation procedures to enhance the so-called “curtains to our stage.” He has completed the Vermillion Dollar Lips education continuum under the founder, Dr. Robert Gordon, aka “Dr. Lips.”
Knowing the importance of giving back, Dr. Colson is active in the local community. By participating in health lectures at local churches, donating time and services annually to Give Kids a Smile Day, being a team member for Relay for Life, sponsoring Theatre of the Republic productions in downtown Conway, contributing to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Charity Benefit, and volunteering at Myrtle Beach Street Reach with his church, Trinity United Methodist in North Myrtle Beach, among other things, have established Dr. Colson as an involved member of the community.
