Questions about Cosmetic Dentistry

Serving Myrtle Beach, Conway, and North Myrtle Beach areas of South Carolina

Am I a candidate for Lumineers?

Many people interested in porcelain veneers are curious about Lumineers, an ultra-thin, extra strong veneer that can be placed with no additional tooth sculpting. While this may seem like a benefit, the reality is that most smiles require mild recontouring to give the teeth a perfect appearance, making a majority of patients poor candidates for Lumineers.

Does tooth whitening cause damage to teeth and gums?

Tooth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile, and can be applied with as much frequency as you please. To reduce the potential for sensitivity, the tooth whitening dentists at Carolina Center for Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry suggest you only whiten every six months, but even more frequent whitening will not lead to any permanent tooth or gum damage.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a dental restoration product that allows patients to have their teeth restored in a single, in-office visit. Using an intraoral infared camera, our dentists are able to produce an exact model of your teeth, allowing them to effectively create the proper restoration plan. From this model, your dental crowns, porcelain veneers, or inlays and onlays can be created in-house and placed during your visit, restoring your smile in the fastest way possible.

Why use tooth colored fillings?

The cosmetic dentists at Carolina Center for Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry have chosen to use tooth colored fillings for a variety of reasons. First, tooth colored fillings are more aesthetically pleasing than metal amalgam. Second, tooth colored fillings are more structurally sound than amalgams during normal chewing, and will not expand or contract like amalgams which lead to cracked teeth.
