Questions about Dental Veneers
Serving Myrtle Beach, Conway, and North Myrtle Beach areas of South Carolina
What problems can porcelain veneers treat?
Porcelain veneers offer a cosmetic solution for teeth that are:
- Chipped or cracked
- Unevenly spaced or gapped
- Crooked
- Unevenly sized
- Discolored
A strictly cosmetic procedure, porcelain veneers do not offer added stability, and are not ideally suited to treat functional problems with teeth. However, they are a perfect way to correct aesthetic imperfections and provide a seamless and beautiful smile.
How long does the process for porcelain veneers take?
The noninvasive, painless process for placing porcelain veneers takes place over two office visits. During your first visit, one of our experienced Myrtle Beach porcelain veneer dentists will prepare your teeth for the placement of your customized veneers, and fit you with temporary veneers to be used until they are ready. Once your customized veneers are ready, you will come back to our office to have your temporary veneers removed, and your individualized porcelain veneers placed.
Why aren’t the porcelain veneers made in-office?
The doctors at Carolina Center for Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry were among the first practices in South Carolina to use CEREC, a technology that allows us to create porcelain veneers in-office during your initial visit. However, minute details like exact color require the use of laboratories that specialize in the creation of strong, aesthetically superior porcelain veneers. From our years of experience, we have chosen to work with both Frontier Dental Labs, and Americus Dental Labs for the high quality, beautiful veneers they are able to produce.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers can last many years depending greatly on your oral hygiene routine. Porcelain is stain resistant, and will not be as adversely affected by coffee, tea, and smoking as your natural teeth, but long lasting results require a proper at-home brushing routine and a minimum of twice-a-year visits with our dentists for thorough cleanings.
