William Chad Colson, DMD
Born in Union, SC, Chad grew up in Mauldin, SC. After graduating from Mauldin High School, Chad attended Clemson University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry in 1996. Upon graduation, he was awarded a scholarship to attend dental school through the Health Professions Scholarship Program with the United States Navy and was commissioned the rank of Ensign. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000. Chad received several awards noting his excellence in oral surgery and clinical proficiency in other aspects of dentistry.
After graduation, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the US Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Colson completed residency training in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program through the US Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in San Diego, CA. During his tour of active duty, he met his wife, Dr. Jill Wonder Colson. While stationed in Norfolk, VA, he and his wife provided free dental service at the Chesapeake Care Clinic, a free medical/dental clinic for the impoverished. Dr. Colson completed his active duty stationed onboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), the nation’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier; he returned from a six-month deployment to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqui Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2004. Dr. Colson was awarded numerous medals of commendation during his active duty service. Both he and his wife received honorable discharges from the US Navy in the summer of 2004.
Dr Colson, along with his wife joined, Carolina Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry in 2004.
Knowing the importance of giving back, Dr. Colson is also active in the local community. By participating in health lectures at local churches, being a team member for Relay for Life, sponsoring theater productions in downtown Conway, and contributing to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Charity Benefit, among other things have helped establish Dr. Colson as a involved member of the community.
Dr. Colson is an active member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is treasurer of the Grand Strand Dental Society.
Dr. Colson enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is committed to pursuing excellence in his training and skills. He is trained and qualified to place mini dental implants, to render conscious sedation and to utilize lasers in dentistry among other routine procedures. As a highlight, Dr. Colson enjoys the challenges and rewards of oral surgery.
Jill Wonder Colson, DMD, FAGD

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Jill was raised in a family of dentists including her father, her uncle and her brother. Jill attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1996. Upon graduation, she was awarded a scholarship to attend dental school through the Health Professions Scholarship Program with the United States Navy and was commissioned the rank of Ensign. In 2000, she received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA. During her time at Temple, Jill voluntarily participated in 2 week- long trips to Haiti, providing dental services to the needy. Also, Jill received multiple awards for clinical proficiency, integrity and academic excellence throughout her time at Temple.
After graduation, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the US Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Colson completed residency training in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program through the US Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Norfolk, Virginia. During her four-year tour of active duty, she met her husband, Dr. William Chad Colson. While stationed in Norfolk, she and her husband provided free dental service at a local free medical/dental clinic for the indigent. Dr. Colson highlighted her active duty career by being stationed onboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), the nation’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. She completed her tour to the Persian Gulf during September 11, 2001. Dr. Colson was awarded numerous medals of commendation during her active duty service. Both she and her husband received honorable discharges from the US Navy in the summer of 2004.
In August of 2006, Dr. Colson was awarded the honor of Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Attaining this fellowship is a rigorous process which involves an examination and numerous hours of continuing education. This achievement of Fellow demonstrates an exceptional commitment and is a prestigious symbol of Dr. Colson’s pursuit of improvement, progress, and excellence in oral health care.
Dr. Colson is an active member of the American Dental Association and the South Carolina Dental Association. Along with her husband, she is a founding member of the SCDA’s Committee on the New Dentist, a group focused on young dentists starting their careers. Finally, Dr. Colson is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is president of the Grand Strand Dental Society.

Jeff W. Horowitz, DMD, FAGD

Dr. Jeff Horowitz, a native of New Jersey, pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1991. Prior to opening his practice, Dr. Horowitz completed an additional year of training in a general practice residency at the Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, N.J. During this year, Dr. Horowitz gained advanced training in all areas of dentistry and general medicine.
Dr Horowitz is the founder of the Carolina Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, and has been practicing in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area since 1992. In 1993, he married the former Ginny Badgett, and together they have two sons, Luke and Joel.
A stickler for quality, Dr Horowitz has dedicated himself to continuing education, earning him the prestigious fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Committed to the highest level of patient care, Dr. Horowitz is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Orthodontic Society, the American Dental Association and he is a past president of the Grand Strand Dental Society. His main interests include cosmetic smile rehabilitation and complex restorative cases, but his broad knowledge of general dentistry, orthodontics and TMJ dysfunction has earned him a noteworthy reputation within the dental community. Outside of the office, Dr. Horowitz has been involved in the local community, serving as a past president of the Conway Rotary Club, a board member of Conway Main Street, USA, and a proud supporter of The Theatre of the Republic.
Thomas M. Badgett, DMD

Dr. Tom Badgett grew up in Kentucky and attended University of Kentucky. He went on to graduate from University of Louisville Dental School in 1967.
Upon graduation, he came to Conway, South Carolina and began establishing his practice. Through the years, Dr. Badgett has been a pillar in the community, treating generations of families and giving back in many ways. In the twilight of his career, Dr. Badgett has merged his practice with his son-in-law, Dr. Jeff Horowitz, and Drs. Jill and Chad Colson. Although he is no longer accepting new patients, Dr. Badgett is still practicing on a limited schedule a few days a week. Dr. Badgett is married to Loralee and they have three grown daughters. In addition, they have 5 grandchildren.
